I am a DONA international trained birth and postpartum doula, lactation counselor, and Bebo Mia trained fertility doula. Also, I am a wife, dog mom, and a mother to a beautiful little girl. I became a mom in 2022 after a 3 year battle with infertility. In those 3 years I went down rabbit hole, after rabbit hole looking for fertility advice. I learned things I wish I would have known starting my fertility journey. After that battle I started a different battle I didn’t see coming. I have always wanted to be a mom. So, when my mental health failed me, I felt I had no right to complain because “this is what I’ve always wanted” and “you have more than enough support”. Wrong. This is my driving force to my why and I am passionate to show others they are worthy; it’s okay to want and ask for help. I want you to enjoy this stage in your life and not just try to survive it.
My background is working in the healthcare field as a Registered Nurse. In the back of my mind, I wondered if there is something more I could do. When I stumbled across doula training; it clicked, and I have loved every piece of the learning process it has come with. Women’s health, babies - I love it! I want to help you understand evidence-based options and support you in the choices YOU make. No matter what your situation is, you deserve a supported time for you and for your family.
What is a Doula?
A non-medical, non-judgmental trained individual who provides evidence-based information, and support preconception, before, during, and after childbirth. They support and empower you to make the choices that are best for you. Basically, your BFF, pal, coach, buddy, person of honor for all things preconception, birth and postpartum.
How is doula support different than family and friends?
Family and friends are a great support. The challenge is that many of them do not have the unbiased support that a Doula can provide. Your Doula is your guide through this journey, friends and family tend to share many of their opinions and may feel that the way they did things is the right way. One of the biggest things we hear from our clients is that the support that they received from their Doulas allowed them to better communicate their needs to their family.
